High voltage capacitors for bug zapper lamps and outdoor insect killers
For the step-up and energy storage circuits of higher-voltage bug zapper lamps and outdoor insect killers.
Most handheld fly swatters use low voltage capacitors. Bug zapper lamps, outdoor insect killers and some swatters with a higher output step the battery or mains voltage up to several kilovolts, store it in a high voltage capacitor and discharge it when an insect touches the grid. The storage capacitor needs ample capacitance and voltage margin: consider F-4KV-472Z (4.7 nF), E-6KV-103M (10 nF) and B series parts rated 4–6 kV.
